Facilities Technician I- RMH Requisition ID 2024-52174 Category Ronald McDonald House Overview The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the lawn, landscape, sidewalks, parking lots and garages on the Hospital campus. His focus or objective is to provide a safe, clean and pleasing environment.Must be able to work independently from written or oral instructions without direct supervision. Required to work after normal hours, weekends and holidays to meet seasonal job demand. Works outside during inclement weather (rain, ice/snow) as directed. Why Nationwide Children's Hospital? Responsibilities Performs a variety of landscape tasks: grading, seeding, sodding, rototilling, planting, fertilizing, pruning, spraying, weeding, etc. Mows/trims/edges lawn areas observing pertinent safety regulations. Removes Hospital hard trash and keeps the grounds free of litter. Sweeps/cleans Hospital streets, parking lots, garages, sidewalks and entrances. Operates power washer, blowers, vacuums and street sweepers. Reports for ice/snow removal as called. Accountable for clearing primary areas. Applies ice melting materials. Performs first level maintenance on gasoline and diesel equipment. Checks oil, lubricates and makes minor repairs. Maintains paved surfaces: patches blacktop & repairs concrete sidewalks. Proactive in identifying problem areas in the landscape, recommending viable solutions and carrying out steps to resolve issues. Collaborates with co-workers, contractors and staff to provide high impact seasonal color display. Compliant with Hospital/Departmental Policies and Procedures. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED High School graduateSix (6) months job related experience and some knowledge of grounds maintenance operations Valid driver's license required Ohio Nurserymen Landscape Installer Certification is desirable Desired by not required:Certification from a trade programMiscellaneous installation/repair certifications from vendors MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Walking Constantly Kneeling Constantly Bending Constantly Stooping Constantly Standing Constantly Pushing/Pulling Constantly Reaching Frequently Lifting (up to 100 lbs.)
