Jacobs Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer in Columbus, Ohio

Our Columbus office is looking for an Entry Level Geotechnical engineer to join our established team. This position will work directly with senior level staff to facilitate project completion, work with clients, and manage project tasks. The ideal person for this position will be interested in a variety of project types that incorporate multiple disciplines. With Jacobs, you’ll work on a variety of exciting projects in the transportation and water sectors that apply critical thinking and problem-solving abilities for innovation to best serve our clients. You should be self-motivated with a long-term desire to grow personally as well as professionally within the Ohio area and surrounding regions.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish and coordinate geotechnical field explorations and laboratory testing programs.

  • Prepare boring logs and subsurface profiles.

  • Design and analyses for shallow and deep foundations and earth-retaining structures.

  • Perform seepage and slope stability analyses.

  • Develop geotechnical reports.

  • Work in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams from across North America.

  • Possess an outgoing and positive attitude, are dependable, and meet all assigned project deadlines.

  • Display strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a team environment with multiple deadlines.

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a Civil Emphasis is required;

  • Engineering Intern (EI) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification;

  • Willingness and flexibility to travel for work;

  • Good verbal and written communication and skills;

  • Computer skills including CADD, and Microsoft Office;

  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel;
