VMware Director, GTM PMO Cloud Universal - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Columbus, Ohio

Summary: Director, GTM Program Management Office (PMO) - VMware Cloud Universal

The subscription economy is mainstream and growing. Customers want faster access to product updates, ongoing support and education, and flexible consumption and commercial models. VMware is listening to our customers and partnering with them to provide VMware Cloud Universal, a new purchasing program to consume VMware technology as a subscription in their on-premises and cloud deployments.

The Director, Go-to-Market (GTM) Program Management Office (PMO) for VMware Cloud Universal will be responsible for driving the operating model and execution for every phase of the Cloud Universal offering across the VMware portfolio. The Director, GTM PMO creates high velocity, accountability, and excellence across the workstream leaders (referred to Aces) across multiple functions. In this high-profile role, you will help shape the vision and strategy of VMware’s transformation to a subscription and SaaS company as we bring to market a new SaaS program. You will be an important part of the GTM SaaS transformation underway at VMware. This role will report to the Senior Director of VMCU GTM Transformation Office.

Job Roles and Responsibilities:

Cross-functional and stakeholder collaboration

  • Organize, lead, and partner with cross-functional teams to effectively execute each phase of Cloud Universal offering. This includes establishing strong guiding principles, governance, and operating model for the Cloud Universal Strategic PMO.

  • Lead and influence without authority across a highly cross-functional, and matrixed team structure comprising of BUs, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Partner, and Ops teams

  • Working closely with the Customer Operations Team to drive focus on operational execution readiness for successful implementation.

Rigorous Program Management and Execution of Cloud Universal

  • Drive meticulous documentation and project planning, rapidly creating timelines, project plans, updates, focus on using consistent collaboration platforms and tools for scale and efficiency.

  • Drive execution on each phase of the Cloud Universal offering, working from ideation to launch, working out strategic questions, gaps, and driving closure on issues.

  • Identify connective tissue between workstreams and how teams should work together. Manage workstream dependencies by forcing collisions, collaboration across multiple teams until an accepted solution is in place.

  • Surface major gaps, risks to leadership for discussion, decision, and closure.

Executive and stakeholder communication

  • Produce regular status reports that are audience appropriate to communicate with executives and workstreams

  • Publish impactful weekly updates for broad distribution to executives and workstreams

  • Own tracking and reporting of business metrics reporting including financial targets, goals with business insights on results and outcomes.

  • As we grow the subscription and SaaS business, keep Aces and workstreams focused on business results, aligning the team on key metrics, goals, and business targets.

Required Background and Skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in Enterprise Software and/or subscription and SaaS businesses.

  • 8+ years’ experience in experience in consulting, strategy & operations, and program management

  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to lead and influence without authority in a highly cross-functional, matrixed organization comprising of BUs, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Ops teams

  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and fast paced environment with an entrepreneurial approach, work autonomously with limited guidance

  • Strong attention to detail and an affinity for metrics and patterns in business performance

  • Knowledge and experience of Subscription and SaaS businesses highly preferred

  • Results-driven leader who is fearless about execution, can champion a vision and roadmap, and is not afraid to dig into the details with the front-line team.

  • Get-stuff-done mindset with a strong bias towards action

  • Be a change-oriented leader and thrive in an ambiguous, constantly changing environment.

  • Data-driven mindset with proven experience utilizing metrics & insights as tools for informed decision-making.

  • A strong team player who supports their extended team and embraces ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the team’s work.

  • Superior project management skills with proven success to push projects over the finish line with sound planning and persistent execution.

  • Understand how to align resources, seek the input of key constituents, and manage others to achieve desired results.

  • Have a proven ability of efficiently ‘making signal out of noise’ and synthesizing information to senior executives – Exceptional communication skills and the demonstrable ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization, both written and verbal communications as well as visualizations and associated tools.

  • Enjoy orchestrating people and wrangling complicated, cross functional challenges.

  • PMP or similar certification a plus, but not required

  • MBA a plus, but not required
