Job Title: Cost AccountantJob Description
Develop an enhanced understanding of cost accounting challenges and opportunities, and lead efforts to improve policies and procedures to minimize manufacturing variances. The role involves managing inventory financially, including cost changes, inventory transfers, production variances, and more. The position also requires performing analysis and issuing reports on inventory values, production variances, and margin analysis by product line. Additionally, you will assist with physical inventories and review standard costs, BOMs, and routings regularly.
Responsibilities
Develop enhanced understanding of cost accounting challenges and lead efforts to improve policies and procedures to minimize manufacturing variances.
Manage inventory financially, including cost changes, inventory transfers, production variances, price variances, reviewing zero cost items, overhead allocation, and analysis of slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
Perform analysis and issue reports on inventory values, production variances, and margin analysis by product line.
Assist with physical inventories.
Review standard costs, BOM’s, and routings regularly and update as appropriate.
Work closely with all departments to understand company operations and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Prepare financial analysis of manufacturing variances for management and provide advice on the impact to operations.
Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned, including ad hoc reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
A minimum of three to five years of cost accounting experience
CPA or CMA desired but not required
Good verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and customer service capabilities
Strong familiarity with manufacturing operations
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel (V-lookups, pivot tables)
Experience with ERP systems
Solid data mining abilities

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $40.00/hr.
