JPMorgan Chase Control Manager - Regulatory Change Management Governance & Controls Product, Executive Director in Columbus, Ohio

As a Control Manager Executive Director within the Regulatory Change Management Governance & Control Program Product Control Team, you will be responsible for managing various areas within RCMG, including the Disclosure Center of Excellence (DCOE), Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning & Quality Assurance, and Operations Center of Excellence (OCOE). You will collaborate with teams across Consumer & Community Banking (CCB), Asset & Wealth Management (AWM), and International Consumer Bank (ICB) to maintain a strong and proactive risk posture. Your role will also involve influencing outcomes and partnering with other business teams and support functions. Additionally, you will oversee control oversight for Control Products, including the AML/KYC Product and CCB Controls Platforms Product.

Job responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the Control and Operational Risk Evaluation (CORE) Program for RCMG and Control Programs Product

  • Partner with business colleagues to cultivate a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk identification and assessment as well as ensuring on-going control improvements and strengthening of the existing control environment.

  • Participate in project planning as required to assist business in developing appropriate internal control systems or to monitor significant changes in control systems.

  • Maintain awareness of significant changes impacting the business, both internally and externally.

  • Prepare detailed reports of findings and present key control initiatives to management as well as Working with business partners to validate the effectiveness of controls.

  • Understand the Regulatory and Firmwide Policy/ Standard (s) governing Office of Legal Obligation (OLO) and Regulatory Change Management Governance (RCMG) to ensure governance controls are established for key and minimum requirements for Policy/ Standard and Regulatory compliance.

  • Monitor key metrics or indicators to detect Emerging or Elevated risks; Report regularly to BCMs/ CCMs and BCM Teams, and provide guidance for governance (Ex. Escalation to relevant BCCs)

  • Partner with LOB BCM teams to analyze Emerging or Elevated risk themes for root causes as well as solutioning

  • Partner with Line of Defense Partners (Legal, Compliance, Op Risk, and Audit) to understand their priorities and engage them as appropriate to manage the control environment, while ensuring successful Compliance/Op Risk tests and Audits, and Regulatory exams as applicable

  • Manage and motivate team members across geographic locations, as well as a set of matrixed individuals within the broader team and within business teams, to manage operational risk effectively

  • Engage as a key member of the Control Management leadership team engage in people management processes like talent and mobility management, employee engagement and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) activities - to build a diverse, high performing team of control managers that motivates individual and team success

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

  • 10+ years of financial services experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance

  • Sound judgement in assessing risk, prioritizing work, engaging senior leaders, and managing thru change

  • Experience leading across organizational boundaries to analyze, design, and deliver best practices

  • Demonstrate confident leadership and sound judgment to influence a strong culture and risk management, including senior management presentations/ exchanges

  • Strong understanding of the 3 lines of defense in banking institutions, Compliance, Conduct & Operational Risk Frameworks; knowledge of JPMC platforms like ELA and CORE

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with the ability to develop compelling and meaningful executive presentations that will create opportunities / recommendation for improvement

  • Communication/presentation - excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to articulate & explain business issues and controls.

  • Building coalitions and influencing with an E2E mindset - strong interpersonal skills, collaboration and relationship building skills. Ability to engage and influence business leaders in a meaningful and actionable manner

  • Self-motivated. Work autonomously to effect change - flexible, adaptable to shifting priorities; manages competing priorities to achieve the most effective result and able to work in a fast-paced, results oriented environment

  • Process analysis / design acumen - ability to understand a process E2E and associated risk to inform effective and sustainable control design and implementation

  • Problem solving / Analytical skills - solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills; able to synthesize large amounts of data and formulate appropriate conclusions to understand root cause and identifying control breaks, developing timely and sustainable solutions including automation, data analytics, machine learning, as well as analyzing metrics for emerging risk

  • Implementation skills to include but not limited to writing action plans and procedures, as well as overseeing change management

  • Ability to manage ambiguity, and make subjective and informed decisions, influence stakeholders and justify decision making
