Job Description Summary

Job Summary

Responsible for supporting coach and leading associates in an engaged manner to achieve desired results in an assigned manufacturing area. Responsible to serve as the shift start up facilitator, handle resource and product scheduling, assure associates are adequately trained, assist in continuous improvement efforts and provide direction for production associates. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Job Responsibilities (Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Monitor team members to ensure compliance to manufacturing documents.

Directs daily work and provides timely performance feedback to associates

Directs training for associates in their assigned area(s).

Responsible for all process documentation accuracy, completion, and handoff.

Report attendance, scheduling, and direct the resource allocation.

The Production Lead will interact with other Production Leads and associates on the respective/adjoining shifts to share best practices, create standardization, and ensure a smooth transition between shifts. Production Leads are required to work a schedule that allows for this to occur seamlessly.

Respond when an issue is identified, lead the root cause and corrective action investigation as needed, and escalate as required.

Enable the development and training of associates by responding to requests and department needs. Assists with changes to Standard Work Instructions.

Proactively work to anticipate problems before they impact production.

Provide input to performance appraisals and performance improvement/corrective action plans.

Champion process improvements and ensure that changes associated with Continuous Improvement (CI) activities are implemented consistently in their area.

Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Ensure manufactured products meet the established quality requirements. 

Meet or exceed operational objectives (i.e. safety, quality, production, cost, etc.)

Education and Experience

Minimum Education :

Required : HSD/GED

Preferred : Associates degree – Business or related field

Minimum Experience:

2 years’ experience in an automated manufacturing environment (Preferably medical device manufacturing)

Summary

The Production Technician (PT) is responsible for performing all production activities related to manufacturing of medical devices in compliance with established processes and procedures. The PT works closely with the Manufacturing Supervisors/Team Leaders and other support departments to ensure product quality and adherence to regulations. The PT also provides assistance as needed to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all assigned tasks by operating or assisting in the operation of one or more machines, such as extruders, injection molding machines, laser cutters, CNC machining centers, robotic cells, and automated assembly systems.

  • Monitor equipment operation and performance. Assist with troubleshooting equipment when necessary. Ensure proper safety precautions are taken to prevent injury or damage to equipment.

  • Review documentation / work orders provided by Team Leader to verify they contain correct information prior to execution. Follow instructions on documentation / work orders to complete requests accurately. Document any deviation from standard process.

  • Load and unload materials and finished products manually or using hoists. Pack, unpack, and repack materials and products. Weigh, label, and package products for shipment. Move finished products to storage areas.

  • Maintain accurate records of production activity. Observe product quality and report any defects found during inspection.

  • Assist with inventory control functions. Stock materials and supplies. Replenish materials used in production. Accurately sort and place items in designated locations.

  • Train new employees as directed by Team Leader. Assist Team Leader in ensuring that all employees follow safety policies and procedures. Complete required paperwork and documentation.

  • Participate in team meetings as requested by Team Leader. Offer suggestions for improving the manufacturing process.

  • Comply with all applicable regulatory requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Adhere to all safety practices and guidelines.

  • Keep all areas clean and orderly.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Working knowledge of computers and software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Strong communication skills.
