General Summary:
This highly visible role will be instrumental to leading and delivering innovation initially focused on our small business segment. The Director will serve as both a cross-functional leader as well as manager of a small core team. This highly dynamic role offers both depth into advanced analytics and exposure to applied emergent technology as well as breadth across several instrumental areas of our business as we transform our operations.
This role requires extensive technology, analytical, leadership and business knowledge to effectively transform the business. The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership of assigned business areas along with key management stakeholders to help influence strategic digital based solutions to improve the functional area. The individual will input into strategic decisions while also leading the execution of digital change. They will ensure that solutions being considered align with the strategic direction of the company and are of high quality and will result in a significant financial ROI for the assigned functional area.
Job Specifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience (Master’s degree is a plus).
8+ years of experience in analytics, problem-solving, and delivering value through digital solutions.
Strong understanding of customer journey behaviors and technology-driven transformations.
Proven ability to drive digital transformation through user adoption, marketing campaigns, and operational readiness.
Experience in project delivery, risk management, and fostering a culture of change with strong communication skills.
Strategic and operational thinking with expertise in Agile methods.
Proficiency in developing cost-benefit analyses to secure buy-in from senior leadership.
Demonstrated success in delivering data-driven solutions that enhance customer experience.
Strong research, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with actionable outcomes.
Collaborative team player with the ability to work across diverse teams and functions.
Proven leadership in mentoring and developing team members.
Ability to travel as required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Lead technology and process assessments for assigned organizations, presenting digital solution recommendations to senior leaders.
Partner with Product Owners to shape long-term digital and technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with company strategy and measurable impacts on operational readiness, customer experience, and financial ROI.
Develop business plans for projects, including detailed financial cost-benefit analyses.
Research, analyze, and synthesize complex information to identify business opportunities and challenges.
Design digital solutions that support strategic objectives, enhance business goals, and improve efficiency, reducing operational costs while elevating customer experiences.
Simplify and reimagine processes to deliver transformational digital experiences.
Develop and implement change management plans, acting as a champion of digital transformation.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of marketplace trends and internal processes to drive actionable recommendations.
Maintain a customer-centric mindset, identifying key components of engagement to improve experiences and drive business solutions.
Lead large-scale transformational projects, using data-driven insights to improve customer experience and operational readiness.
Present innovative digital solutions to senior leaders through compelling data-driven storytelling.
Stay current on emerging digital technology trends, identifying opportunities to leverage them for improved business performance and customer satisfaction.
Mentor transformational specialists and manage small teams when required.
Build effective partnerships with business leaders, project managers, and subject matter experts to identify and address business needs with actionable solutions.
Collaborate with Product Owners and IT professionals to manage dependencies and deliver value across journeys.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$109,100.00-$224,000.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
