Wellpath Custody Officer in Columbia, South Carolina

As a Custody Officer, your main responsibility is to ensure security within and around the facility, maintaining order and safety for both staff and patients. You will be responsible for performing routine patrols, conducting searches, and responding to any disturbances or emergencies that may arise. Additionally, you will need to maintain detailed records of your activities, including any incidents or observations, to ensure compliance with established protocols and regulations.

How you make a difference

The Custody Officer (CO)maintainssecurity and safety standards for all patients under their control. This includes conducting security checks and inspections of the entire working environment, and promptly correcting or reporting any deficiencies. The CO also preparesaccuratewritten reports of daily activities, disciplinary infractions, accidents, and incidents. They prioritize developing andmaintainingprofessional relationships with patients, supervisors, and other employees within the working environment.

  • Maintains security and compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Prepares andsubmitsreports ina timelyandaccuratemanner.
  • Operates andmaintainssecurity devices andmaintainssafety and sanitation standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or GED. College degree in related area preferred.

Experience

  • One (1) year experience in correctional, security or police work - two (2) of whichhasbeen in a medium/maximum security setting or three (3) of which have been in a secure setting.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Satisfactory completion of academic and on-the-job training asrequiredfor certification as a Custody Officer.
