Dominion Energy Program (DESC)

Location: Columbia, SC (Remote – Home Office with Local Travel)

Job Description:

The Account Manger position provides critical program support and technical field services for the Dominion C&I demand side management incentive programs. Your role will be to increase the number of actively participating commercial customers in the Dominion Energy Wise for Your Business and Small Business Energy Solutions programs.

The successful candidate will develop a sales strategy based on your proven experience, building a pipeline of projects across specific sectors. Pivotal to driving success is a keen understanding of the unique sales process that is needed for these programs and the ability to identify key drivers to success in a multitude of scenarios.

What you will be doing:

  • Work as part a team ensuring that the implementation of energy efficiency projects are successfully executed.

  • Serve as both "Hunter" and "Consultative Sales Professional", often at the same time.

  • Perform field outreach and program awareness.

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance on energy efficient technologies and practices to several stakeholders including customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other trade allies participating in DESC’s commercial programs.Must be able to effectively communicate to both technical trade allies and non-technical audiences.

  • Review commercial grade technical specifications, engineering calculations and cost estimates for energy efficiency projects.

  • Independently build and maintain relationships with key market actors in the energy industry including architects, engineers, contractors, energy raters/consultants, builders, public officials, public interest groups, building owners and utility customers.

  • Present program benefits to audiences at special events including seminars, webinars, and conferences.

  • Join and participate in relevant associations & professional groups.

  • Contribute to the evolution of program strategies and the design of program features, services, and marketing campaigns.

  • Conduct market ally outreach and training as needed.

  • Prepare status reports to accurately describe activities in the field and to monitor progress towards program goals through customer participation and the completion of eligible projects.

  • Take an active role in the program’s application process. Ensure all applications are processed correctly and in a timely manner from submittal to close out.

  • Coordinate with or follow up on program Quality Assurance activities as appropriate.

  • Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are between 40% to 75% of the time. (reimbursement for mileage provided)

What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):

  • A Bachelor's degree (candidates can substitute one year of experience for each year of education)

  • 2+ Years of professional work experience

  • Must have valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.

What we would like you to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in account management, preferably in the energy or utility industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

  • Strong knowledge of energy efficiency principles, technologies, and building systems.

  • Familiarity with utility-sponsored incentive programs and regulatory requirements is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess energy usage and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with commercial customers and stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in using energy modeling software and tools for energy assessments is a plus.

  • A commitment to environmental sustainability and promoting energy efficiency practices.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$53,118.00 - $90,301.00
