What do you get to do in this position?

  • Quality Engineering role supporting Columbia Manufacturing operations
  • Lead problem solving regarding internal and external customer concerns utilizing tools including 8D, Kaizen, Six Sigma... all driving to understanding Root Cause - implementing corrective and preventative actions and driving continuous improvement.
  • Leads review, development, and implementation of PFMEA, process control plans and poka-yoke and Jidoka opportunities.
  • Leads, via Schneider Performance System methodologies, continuous process improvement impacting customer returns, scrap, and first-time throughput.
  • Supports Short Interval Management serving as a key team member, demonstrating leadership, responsiveness, excellent communication skills, and ability to team with others solving issues and implementing improvement.
  • Interfaces with external customers regarding product concerns, responsible for investigations, customer follow-up, and ultimate customer satisfaction.
  • Interact regularly with customers to better understand their expectations and concerns.
  • Interfaces heavily with Technical Antennas, manufacturing hourly and salaried support personnel, and external corporate engineering, quality, and supplier quality resources.
  • Supports new product introductions, supplier development activities relating to Columbia components, and is a key contributor to those overall successes.
  • Benchmark with other Schneider entities, align, and deploy projects to utilize digital technology in the process robustness.

This job might be for you if you have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial). Master's Preferred.
  • 2 Experience within manufacturing Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar are required.
  • Experience with PFMEA, 8D problem solving methodology, tool utilization (ie. 5Why, fishbone (cause and effect), etc).
  • Six Sigma knowledge, experience, (Green belt certification desired).
  • Excellent skills in leadership, communication both verbal and written, and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of lean tools like VSM, 5S, Spaghetti Diagram, process flow diagrams, Kaizen.
  • Experience in SAP to understand BOM, routings, Production versions.
  • Experience participating in resolving issues using Six Sigma methodology for Green Belt or Black Belt projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience working with people from manufacturing floor including but not limited to operators, line leads, technicians, supervisors, managers, and directors.
  • ISO led auditor certified preferable.
  • Experience of integrating controls using Vision Systems and DC drivers for RPN reduction projects.
  • Project management experience of leading at least 1 project that required capital investment and managing cross functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand/interpret engineering drawings to resolve supplier quality issues.
