INTEGRATED FACILITY SERVICES Project Engineer in Columbia, Missouri

Growth oriented multi-disciplined Mechanical Contracting firm is currently seeking a Project Engineer out of our Columbia, Missouri office to coordinate and manage Commercial Mechanical contracting projects in Missouri, as well as performing design and engineering. Integrated Facility Services is employee owned and a leading mechanical contractor with 55 year history of serving customers in the state of Missouri.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate and manage jobs
    • Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses.
    • Develop cost-effective plans and schedules for completion of projects following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
    • Track and control construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion of projects within time and monies allocated.
    • Reviews and approves bids, RFI's, submittals, and change requests from suppliers and subcontractors for completeness, errors or omissions.
    • Report to owners and architects about progress and any necessary modifications of plans that seem indicated.
    • Coordinate critical aspects of jobs with architect, general contractor, sub-contractors and owner
    • Oversee performance of all trade contractors and review architectural and engineering drawings to make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed.
    • Visit jobsites when necessary perform field surveys and to help field personnel resolve issues
    • Attends job meetings and keeps job logs and records.
    • Finish closeout materials on selected jobs
    • Work with other engineers, designers, salesmen, and vendors to achieve solutions to problems
  • Design and Engineering
    • Engages in several levels of field engineering, project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management, and daily or on demand problem solving.
    • Designs and plans layout of equipment, duct, and piping systems. Conducts load calculations.
    • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
    • Manages development of project design documents, engaging in team review of designs/deliverables and document decisions.
    • Reviews project requirements and works with the Vice President of Engineering to develop project objectives
    • Studies and investigates to determine design possibilities, customer requirements and performance standards, then determines project scope of work and specifications it will follow. Presents cost estimates (creates or assists in the creation of the cost estimate) with the goal of meeting the performance standards.

Qualifications required:

  • Mechanical Engineering BS or MS degree required
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical construction and general construction practices preferred.
  • Ability read mechanical and architectural plans
  • OSHA 10 certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines and deal with various personality types
  • Punctual, dependable, excellent attendance h bits
  • Honesty, attention to detail, ability to keep trade information confidential
  • Professional appearance, well groomed, business casual dress
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English well
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create and maintain friendly relationships with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to use HVAC/Mechanical System design software and computerized estimating systems

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment with visits to construction sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with varied work hours depending on the project

TravelMinimal overnight travel, but frequent travel in Missouri is expected for this position
