Job Description Packager / Extruder Trainee Responsible for assisting Operators List of duties required: 1. Install gaskets on pipe. 2. Place finished pipe in racking station. 3. Install blocking materials and banding per plant procedure. 4. Assist in banding of pipe as it is unitized. 5. Assist in removal of all nonconforming products from production area. 6. Assist in removal of finished units of pipe. 7. Assist in start up and shutdown procedure for line changes. 8. Assist in clean up of extrusion line. 9. Visually inspect all pipe for obvious defects. 10. Install banding and lumber for new rack of pipe after finished rack is removed. 11. Assist in rack removal when necessary. 12. Operate forklift in a safe manner. 13. Learn operation of extrusion line. 14. Perform all duties within plant safety guidelines. 15. Must be able to stand and walk for 12-hour shift in a non-temperature-controlled environment. 16. Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a repetitive basis with the ability to lift up to 100 lbs on occasion. 17. Maintain quality of product. 18. Perform all required quality control testing. 19. Check and accurately record all dimensions. 20. Perform hourly extrusion line dimensional and operational checks. 21. Visually check every piece of pipe produced for obvious defects. 22. Unitize all completed racks of pipe. 23. Basic troubleshooting of extrusion process. 24. Ability to recognize and correct minor extrusion related problems. 25. Perform basic maintenance of extrusion line. 26. Perform basic corrective actions required to maintain product 27. Quality. (dimensional sizing, thick wall placement, bell dimensions, etc.) 28. Removal of unitized products from production area. 29. Clean and maintain extrusion line. 30. Discuss with off going operator problems incurred during his shift. 31. Maintain acceptable first thru yield and downtime percentages. 32. Perform shut down and start up procedures for size changes. 33. Notify Supervisor of any problems the operator is incapable of 34. Ability to follow directions. 35. Ability to work independently or as a team. 36. Ability to bend, stoop, twist, walk without complications. 37. FLEXIBILITY to move shifts is a MUST.
