Job Responsibilities

  • Transformative Leadership: The Quality Engineering role aims to transform the Columbia Missouri US Plant into a highly customer-oriented organization, delivering premium quality and service to exceed customer expectations.
  • Quality Program Management: Lead relevant quality programs and methods such as 8D, Lean Six Sigma, Quality Fundamentals, Digital Quality, and customer interaction to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Issue Management: Directly manage critical issues escalated by customers, or line of business. Utilize problem-solving tools such as 8D, Kaizen, and Six Sigma to understand root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Lead review, development, and implementation of Quality Fundamentals, PFMEA, process control plans, and poka-yoke and Jidoka opportunities
  • Quality Manufacturing: Lead continuous process improvement impacting customer returns, scrap, and first-time throughput.
  • Customer Interface: Interface with external customers to better understand their expectations and concerns regarding product concerns, responsible for investigations, customer follow-up, and ultimate customer satisfaction.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface heavily with Technical Antennas, manufacturing hourly and salaried support personnel, and external corporate engineering, quality, and supplier quality resources.
  • Product and Supplier Support: Support new product introductions and supplier development activities relating to Columbia components.
  • Network: Benchmark with other Schneider entities to align and deploy projects utilizing digital technology in the process robustness.

``` - Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial only). Master's degree preferred. - Minimum experience of 6 months within manufacturing Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent. - Schneider certified 8D competent level as minimum or any equivalent certification for problem solving methodology. - Schneider certified PFMEA expert level preferred or any equivalent certification for improving process robustness.

``` - Excellent skills in leadership, communication both verbal and written, and attention to detail. - Candidate should be a quick learner able to apply themselves across multiple roles both internal to Columbia and supporting corporate initiatives related to customer satisfaction and quality. - Strong understanding of lean tools like VSM, 5S, Spaghetti Diagram, process flow diagrams, Kaizen. - Experience in using lean tools to optimize current process and accomplish cost savings. - Experience working in projects which lead to scrap reduction. - Experience in SAP to understand BOM, routings, Production versions. - Experience participating in resolving issues using Six Sigma methodology for Green Belt or Black Belt projects in a manufacturing environment.

``` - Lean Manufacturing fundamentals certification or any equivalent certification. - Experience of integrating controls using Vision Systems and DC drivers for RPN reduction projects. - Project management experience of leading at least 1 project that required capital investment and managing cross functional stakeholders. - Ability to understand/interpret engineering drawings to resolve supplier quality issues.

``` - Previous experience working with people from manufacturing floor including but not limited to operators, line leads, technicians, supervisors, managers, and directors. - ISO led auditor certified preferable. - Experience interacting with customers.
