ThermAvant Technologies, LLC Engineering Technician in Columbia, Missouri
This role collaborates closely with the Engineering team to support the design, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of custom thermal products. The Engineering Technician plays a critical part in ensuring the successful development and optimization of innovative thermal solutions.
::: {automation-id="job-description"} - Build and install test fixtures, instrumentation, and controls to conduct functional tests accurately and timely according to engineering provided instruction. - Process parts through all processes including fluid processing, testing, final assembly and shipping. - Operate testing equipment, e.g. data acquisition systems, multimeters, power supplies, chillers, etc. - Communicate with engineers and managers on progress of assigned tasks and technical problems. - Assist engineering personnel in planning requirement for fabricating, installing, testing, and servicing heat transfer assemblies and systems. - Assist in maintaining a quality laboratory setting by implementing and demonstrating standard practices for new or existing equipment. - Aid in establishing and preserving documented procedures. - Perform quality assurance tasks on in-process and final hardware per specifications while meeting production schedules. - Practice and promote safety and good housekeeping practices. - Perform and participate in inspections, audits, and resolving non-conformities. - Source and procure supplies, e.g. requesting quotations, generating requisitions, working with vendors. - Basic electrical wiring, instrumentation, and controls for various systems. - Other duties as assigned.
Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics:
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals
- Fabricate nonstandard parts for systems using hand-tools and power tools
- Light machining on manual lathe, vertical mill, drill press and/or band saw. :::
Requirements
::: {automation-id="job-requirements"} - Certificate or Degree from technical school in related field of study - Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001:2008 or similar quality management procedures and processes. - Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics for fabrication and assembly. - Computer knowledge working with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) - Ability to physically handle heavy materials great than 50lbs when necessary. - Experience with tools, equipment and processes including: - Basic electrical circuit theory - Structural soldering (not solely wire or chip soldering) - Laboratory testing in a controlled environment. - Troubleshooting and development of first-generation solutions requiring practical on-the-floor solutions. - Fluid handling, e.g. refrigerants, including cryogenic and hazardous fluids - Vacuum Systems - General metal fabrication using hand or manual tools. :::
