Job Description

The primary function of this position is to support research activities in the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst product line. The typical daily activities of the employee will include: making laboratory/pilot scale preparations of FCC catalyst and additives, submitting samples for analysis and evaluation, keeping detailed records of the work performed, organizing and reporting results, monitoring the quality of the work and assisting in trouble shooting, and performing other assigned duties. Employee will work under general supervision of a research professional and as an integral member of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Environmental Health & Safety requirements and complete all required safety training. Work safely with chemicals/materials and wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment for the job.

  • Perform laboratory/pilot scale preparations. Submit samples timely for analysis and evaluation.

  • Operate and assist in the maintenance of pilot plant equipment with other team members.

  • Perform necessary housekeeping of the laboratory in order to maintain a clean and safe workspace.

  • Keep detailed records of the work performed. Utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other computer programs for data recording, processing, and reporting.

  • Operate lab scale analytical equipment and participate in developing new analytical methods.

Physical Requirements and Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb multiple levels of stairs and be physically capable of regularly lifting/moving up to 40 pounds.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or two years of college with coursework in chemistry, engineering, and math; relevant work history and experience will be considered in lieu of education.

  • One or two years experience beyond college with overall good mechanical aptitude and experience in chemical lab operations desired. Experience in making, characterizing, or testing of FCC catalysts is a plus.
