Qualifications

MUST hold an active Maryland Pharmacy Technician license

MUST have 3 years of pharmacy technician experience; long-term care pharmacy experience preferred

IV compounding experience highly preferred

Required: High School diploma or equivalent

Pharmacy Technician

Fill prescription items, pack medications for dispensing and for delivery, meet the accuracy and productivity standards of the pharmacy

Label products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels

Participate in the periodic inventory of the pharmacy

May check in drugs and supplies, stock shelves and remove out-of-date items from the inventory

Prepare medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding

May process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction

Work in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room

Work with automated machine to prepack drugs

Input patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels

(data entry)

Mix/package IV medications, sanitize IV room, equipment, and hood

Service facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow)

Perform other tasks as assigned
