Timberland Forestry Forestry Conservation Worker in Columbia Falls, Maine

Timberland Forestry has a job opportunity that is temporary, full time position for 68 workers. Starting date is October 13, 2024 to December 14, 2024. Workers will do tipping of the balsam fir tips using hand pruners. Workers must cut the balsam fir and place it on a pole. The pole when full should weight a minimum of 42 pounds of more when completed. The worker must carry the pole approx. mile to a container. Worker must be in excellent physical condition with a strong back and must be able to do a lot of walking in tough terrain to include conditions where areas are muddy, rain and snow. Schedule is 40 hours per week approx. 8:00 to 4:00 however days and hours vary, some weekend work and overtime may be required. This is hard physical work. Geographical area. Work will be done in Washington County, Colombia Falls, ME. Wages; The rate of pay is \$2.80 per pole however the worker is guaranteed to make no less than the prevailing wage of \$17.31 and overtime pay of \$25.97 per hour. Training: no training is needed. Deductions: No deductions will be taken from the workers check except those deductions required by law. Computing wages: Timberland will use a single work-week as a standard for computing wages due the worker. When will the worker be paid: worker will be paid weekly. The first weeks check will be at the end of the second week. From that time, workers will receive a check every week. Housing: housing will be furnished at no cost to the worker by an outside source. The offered housing is optional to the workers. Housing will be in Colombia Falls, ME. Transportation reimbursement: If the worker completes 50% of the period of employment covered by the job order, Timberland will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence for the worker from the place from which the worker has come to work for Timberland whether in the US or abroad to the place of employment. The amount of transportation reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Timberland will pay the worker at the rate of \$15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of \$59.00 per day with receipts. Payment to the worker will be made by check within 48 hours when 50% of the period of employment covered by the job order has been reached. Returning home reimbursement: If the worker completes 50% of the employment period, or if the worker is dismissed from the employment for any reason by Timberland before the end of the employment period, Timberland will arrange and pay for the workers transportation. Subsistence will be paid to the worker at a rate of \$15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of \$59.00 per day with receipts. Workers will be paid for subsistence upon receipts. Timberland will pay from the place of employment to the place from which the worker departed to work for Timberland except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. Disregarding interviewing employment departed to work for Timberland. Daily transportation: Timberland will provide daily transportation to and from the work site, at no cost to the worker.
