Roundup Fellowship Youth Direct Support Professional in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Job Summary: This person works directly with residents teaching new skills and helping residents who exhibit challenging behaviors. This person assists residents in completing routines including bathing, toileting, and dressing and is responsible for documenting programs, behavior charts, and log notes. This person is responsible for supervising the residents, ensuring a clean safe environment, and participating in community teaching and recreation activities. This position includes case management responsibilities for at least one client. This person writes daily notes and incident reports and is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing skill and behavior programs for at least one client. This person handles emergencies and provides other YDSP's and the Program Director with input regarding the clients

Duties and Responsibilities: Uphold the mission, values, policies, and procedures of Roundup Fellowship. Supervise residents at home and in community settings ensuring their safety. Assist residents to complete daily routines and programs. Intervene in behavior management as indicated in individual crisis intervention and behavior modification programs. Perform case management responsibilities for designated clients including crisis interventions, developing programs to meet treatment plan goals, coordinating resources, and ensuring proper program documentation in all files. Maintain frequent and professional communication with supervisors, family members, schools, therapists, and other professionals or significant others. Complete appropriate documentation including log notes, communication notes, and incident reports. Handle emergency situations effectively while following established procedures. Provide support, and role modeling to other staff members. Responsible for administrative functions as needed. Participate in meetings and training as scheduled or requested by supervisor. Administers medication as prescribed following proper procedures. Perform basic cleaning duties to maintain a safe and healthy environment. Participate in the organization's quality improvement process. Provide feedback to the management when there are concerns about policies and procedures potentially re-traumatizing clients. Responsible for supporting and maintaining a physically and psychologically safe environment. Uphold principles of the trauma informed principles of Roundup Fellowship. Participate in training and events that specifically address the intersection of trauma with culture, history, race, gender, location, and language. Recognize the impact of vicarious trauma on the workforce and continually assess in supervision signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma as well as self-care plans. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum age of 25. High school graduate (or equivalent) and minimum of two years of college education. A high school diploma or equivalent and one year's experience in the human services. Ability to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft Office. Valid Colorado Driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to drive company vehicles with cliental. Satisfactory FBI, CBI and TRAILS record check. Ability to do simple math calculations and analyze data. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure while dealing with a variety of emotions and frustrations. Requires scheduling flexibility. Ability to work as a team member. Ability to communicate effectively with respect and tact to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate plans, prepare materials. Full Certification in crisis management-Safety Care

Physical and Mental Demands: Requires sufficient range of physical strength, endurance, and mobility to assist in household activities and behavioral interventions. Must be able to lift, push pull to 50 pounds. Mu t be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time. Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements. Must be able to successfully completion of the core Safety Care (Crisis Intervention Training) training and maintain certification. Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, and community placements. Requires adequate range of hearing and vision to properly supervise residents. Requires mental flexibility, emotional stability, personal maturity, and creativity in dealing with difficult situations.
