Description of Duties:

The Senior Network Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

· Provide advice and training to end-users, and guide and inform senior leadership.

· Work directly with corresponding Team Leads, Project Managers, Network Engineers, and Network Architect for coordination of routine maintenance, break/fix repair, and planned changes; coordinating any down time with all appropriate leadership and stakeholders

· Generates network design guidance in coordination with architects, SMEs, and system engineers; along with the installation/deployment, configuration, testing, compliance enforcement, and reporting on MDSEA assets to include Cisco, Gigamon, and Riverbed hardware, along with the associated software suites and those of VMware NSX/vCenter, Solarwinds, and other tools as necessary

· Support discrete project proposals and responses to Request for Services (RFS) by providing best estimates of timelines, costs, etc. as required

· Coordinate with Space Operations Communication Center (SpOCC) leadership and staff regarding outage and degradation identification, resolution, reporting, and reaching out to MDA Global Network Operations Center (GNOSC) or other external entities for troubleshooting, reporting, and resolution

· Perform end-user support to internal teammates and tenants/performers alike, including but not limited to Layer 1-3 troubleshooting, physical fault isolation and cabling, etc.

· Develop, track, revise, and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of IT and computing resources as well as assure and sustain the integrity and security of network infrastructure

· Utilize approved work tracking tools (Remedy, Aspen, GitLab, and JIRA) for all approved changes on MDSEA baselined systems

· Update documentation (network diagrams, rack diagrams, etc.) utilizing approved work vehicles and the change management process, and submit to Architect/SME/System Engineer for approvals

· Perform hardening and STIG checklist validation/verification for associated network infrastructure and virtual machines

· Assist SpOCC with maintenance and improvements to monitoring tools (Riverbed, Solarwinds, etc...) and associated dashboards

· Research outages, implementation failures/impediments, and other issues, guiding resolutions and briefing stakeholders of statuses and updates

· Provide standardization of design and implementation documentation, instructions, and improvements to existing processes/procedures

· Review documentation ensuring engineering rigor and quality, maintaining responsibility for projects and tasks assigned to the team

· Maintain written documentation of incidents and escalate issues to the appropriate level of support as required by documented policies and procedures

· Provide mentorship and training to junior/mid engineers and interns/fellows to ensure their participation in experience gathering day-to-day activities, and review work products and efforts during their development

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is expected to pay $104,000 - $129,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days. If a candidate has not been selected at that time, it will continue to be posted until a suitable candidate is selected or the position is closed.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 12 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 10 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of general experience; Master’s degree and 6 years of general experience

· Must have 7 years of experience in network administration or engineering

· Must have 1 year of experience in management or leadership roles

· Be familiar with Cisco routers/switches/firewalls/IPS, Internal/External routing protocols.

· Must have experience with configuring, installing, testing, or troubleshooting of IT network systems primarily consisting of Cisco based LAN/WANs

· Must have, and maintain, a current CompTIA Security certification or CCNA Security certification (DoD 8570 Compliance for privileged users with IAT-II)

· Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time to CONUS locations

· Must have an active DoD Secret, or higher Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

· Have a CCNA/CCNP certification

· Have experience with VMware NSX, Cisco FirePower/ASA, and virtual taps.

· Have experience working with NSA COMSEC devices and INE/HAIPE cryptographic equipment.

· Familiarity with/history of developing DODAF-compliant diagrams and documentation
