Job Overview
The Operating Room Nurse provides direct patient care in a surgical setting in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Monitors and manages the patient and operative environment during surgery to maintain a safe environment, optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
The Operating Room at Children's Hospital Colorado-Colorado Springs is a Level II Trauma Center with 4 OR units and a procedure room that treats children and adolescents. The unit currently supports more than 13 different surgical specialties and performs more than 6,300 cases annually. Our unique yet impressive team is comprised of bachelor's prepared nurses, certified surgical technicians, anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers, and surgeons. The staff in the OR are proud to provide safe, quality care to our patients. We perform a wide variety of surgical procedures, including abdominal, cleft, craniofacial, and plastic reconstructive surgery, colorectal surgery, ENT surgery, trauma surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology surgery, and urology surgery. Our OR nurses and surgical technologists receive extensive training and education in all surgical specialties, promoting communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Experience: One year perioperative nursing experience or successful completion of a perioperative course Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. Licensure(s): Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) * EQUIVALENCY- Applicants with an Associate's Degree in Nursing who agree to obtain a BSN within 3 years from their start date may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing
