Colorado Early Colleges Meal Coordinator in Colorado Springs, Colorado

This is a school based position that works 180 days during the school year (August to mid-May), with an annual salary of $28,800.00.

Position Purpose

The Food Services Meal Coordinator is responsible for the prep, portioning, and delivery of meals to CEC Food Services kitchens that lack production capability. Furthermore, this position acts as key kitchen team member, supporting all aspects of daily meal production such as setup, serving, point of sale, front of house, training, bussing, dishwashing, and meal participation advocacy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures prompt delivery and service of meals to participating schools
  • Coordinates with the Head Cook and Kitchen Manager on participating schools needs.
  • Preps, portions, and prepares all food for schools including grab-n-go, vending, and salad bar options.
  • Regularly rotates between participating schools on a regular basis, supporting team members as needed.
  • Coordinates vehicle maintenance and condition with the CEC Transportation Services department.
  • Trains and supports team members on meal service, food preparation, and cleanup tasks.
  • Works with Kitchen Manager to create employee schedules and weekly preparation task sheets for participating schools.
  • Communicates order needs to Kitchen Manager, in collaboration with Head Cook.
  • Keeps accurate inventory of all food, equipment, and dry goods at participating schools.
  • Collaborates with department staff on new recipes, refined process, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Actively seeks feedback on food quality, concerns, and ideas from staff, students, and community members.
  • Supports the CEC Farm-to-School program by advocating for fresh-made, locally sourced food and by assisting with department projects.
  • Performs all compliance related tasks (food temperatures, waste logs, holding times, FATT tests, etc.) in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Encourages student participation in composting, recycling, and healthy food choices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED Certificate Three years of experience in the food service industry or school kitchens required ServeSafe Certificate
