Akima Support Operations Material Coordinator (PP&C Maint.) in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Position Summary: The Material Coordinator coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors' priorities. In this job, the Material Coordinator reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.

This Worker may monitor and control movement of material and parts along conveyor system, using remote-control panel board, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes and using adding machine; compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand truck or industrial truck; may compile perpetual production records in order to locate material in process of production, using manual or computerized system, and maintain employee records.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 1.Procurement activities to include Confirming specifications, Identifying Vendors, Soliciting Bids, Bid Analysis, Drafting Purchase Orders, Compiling Folders IAW written standards (Purchase Requisition, Single/Sole source request, Bidders list, Cover letter, Fax coversheet, Request for quote, Abstract of Bids, vendor quote, reps & certs sig

2.Price Analysis Checklist, Small Business Checklist), Notification of vendor selection, Tracking of Small Business Classifications, participate in vendor evaluations, resolve problems that arise from the vendor and/or from the end users, Research vendor qualifications (Better Business Bureau, Central Contractor Registration and Chamber of Commerce web pages).

3.Contract Administration Activities: processes Contract Modifications as received from the Government, drafts Subcontract modifications to include funding, contract value and scope of work, keep all contract modification books up to date, ensure paperwork is signed in all appropriate places, make copies for finance, requisitions and for contracts files, update modification tracking lists, ensure timely receipt of all required CDRL's according to the CDRL audit checklist.

4.Assists the Production Control Supervisor in establishing production schedules based on known requirements and other liaison services as required.

5.Advises on scheduling and priority control.

6.Participates in evaluation of branch performance and assists in preparation of maintenance reports and statistical performance data.

7.Performs other duties as assigned.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Office Automation: GCSS-A (level of access determined by production control supervisor and GCSS-A system administrator). Computer, copier and software programs. Prefer access to FEDLOG.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs., stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting; and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules. Steel Toes are required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Knowledge of automated dat systems and automated data system input required.

Experience: Two years military or civilian experience as a material coordinator or serve in a production control functions, experience with GCSS-A platform preferred.

Must possess and continuously maintain a current State of Colorado Driver's License prior to start date or by 30 days after employment.

SECURITY REQUIREMENT: Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries NACI to obtain a CAC. Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
