Focus on the Family Machine/Production Specialist in Colorado Springs, Colorado

The Machine/Production Specialist position exists to perform routine duties in any combination in one or more of the listed areas. The goal is to provide distribution and manufacturing services, which are timely, accurate, and affordable, resulting in 100% customer satisfaction; follows prescribed routines in accomplishing tasks with supervision or assistance always available.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Mail :
Sorts mail by zip code, prepares bundles, bags, ties, labels, and prepares bags for shipping
Sets up and loads hoppers for the inserting and addressing machines
Operates the addressing and inserting machines and maintains a high QC standard
Operates postage meter and records postage for each mailing
Trains new staff on Sort, Tray, and Palletizing Procedures
Validated in one of the following areas: PTI Operation, Warehouse, Ink Jet Operation, and Folder or trains other staff in validated areas
Provides back-up assistance to the supervisor in administrative support, troubleshooting, decision-making
Operates folders, digital printers, PTI Sort Machine, meter machine, cutter, bindery equipment, stamp affixer, is trainer in key areas, creates and updates Process Manuals, assists Supervisor in Production flow, is QC trainer
Manufacturing:
Match mailings
Hand addressing
Assembly of projects
Padding
Operator shrink-wrap machine
Broadcast Dup:
Receives & logs CD masters
Imports audio data as necessary
Maintains CD Catalog Library
Operates CD Duplication Equipment
Operates CD Printers
Performs CD Sleeving Process
Handles special CD duplication requests and makes deliveries
Shipping :
Packs orders in various packages
Generates labels through computerized shipping system
Operates package machines; prepares and ships pallet and foreign orders
Moves product and mail from building to building
Prepares and ships expedited and special orders
Assists various departments in the ministry with shipping needs
Global Shipping:
Packs international orders in various packages
Generates labels through computerized shipping system
Prepares and ships international pallet orders
Prepares and ships expedited international orders that have special needs
Inventories international orders received from the warehouse
Trains others in packing, generating labels, and inventory tracking
Checks shipping requirements for special constraints for destination country
Generates shipping reports using Excel and Access programs
Receives and quality checks the label files for the Magazine Distribution Process
Provides back-up assistance in keying International orders
Processes international shipping claims regarding damaged or undeliverable resources
Warehouse :
Operates Warehouse equipment including standard sit-down forklifts, electric pallet jacks, narrow aisle order pickers and swing-reach trucks, pallet wrappers, and weight count scales
Off-loads trucks, and stores and delivers product
Receives new product into warehouse
Receives and stores returns; handles damaged product
Records product movement in inventory system
Resolves discrepancies
Trains staff in fundamental, critical, and peripheral functions
Writes and/or updates training manuals
Performs cycle counts/manual backorder processes
Records receipts in Inventory/Accounting system
Retrieves product for delivery and staging in various areas
Stores/retrieves departmental archives
Operates x-ray package scanner
Trains staff in lift truck equipment operation
Runs production reports
Maintains receiving document files
Maintains lift truck operator certification database
Oversees day-to-day receiving workflow
Team Responsibilities :

Takes personal responsibility for housekeeping and safety within the team's work area
Contributes toward meeting predetermined performance objectives
Remains flexible and willing to work anywhere with any team member when there is a need
Remains dependable and punctual, has a good attendance record
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Evaluates training and development effectiveness by assessing job performance; recommends future training and development programs
Prepares training and resource materials
May assist in scheduling and assigning trainees for department
Maintains quality standards by conducting equipment inspection, completing production control charts, and making equipment adjustments
Assists in identifying safety and health concerns by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions, recommending preventative suggestions
Identifies learning objectives; selects instructional methodologies
Reinforces learning by selecting and utilizing training media
Prepares reports by collecting and analyzing data and summarizing information trends
Truck Driver
Performs other duties as assigned
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job:
May lead a group of staff for production
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass a Post Offer Prehire Physical exam
Must be able to drive a standard transmission vehicle
Noise from various mail/material-handling machines
Fumes from forklift exhaust
Dust associated with mail and packing materials
Lifting and carrying of material up to 50 pounds
Must be able to push/pull 50lbs
Must be able to stand 6 hours/day and stand 2 hours/day
Must be able to bend, crouch, squat, crawl, kneel, balance, and reach above head
Requires repetitive tasks/motions, good eye-hand-foot coordination, and good manual dexterity
Must be able to hear alarms/phone/tape recorder/normal speaking voice

2 - 4 years Material Handling Experience, completing formal and on-the-job training within the team for fundamental “A” functions and critical “B” level functions

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:
Ability to prioritize and organize workflow in accordance with manufacturing and shipping constraints
Ability to work autonomously
Ability to utilize various computer programs (Word, Excel, Access, PTI software and others as necessary)
Requires ability to read, write, use simple arithmetic, follow instructions, keep simple records, and make basic computer inputs/inquiries
Requires coordination sufficient to operate various manufacturing equipment (inserters, duplicators, scanners, printers, pallet wrappers and others as needed)
Ability to function in a team environment with ability to encourage other team members
Quick learner, not easily distracted
Ability to communicate and write effectively with expression
Ability to analyze data
Knowledge of spreadsheet programs, preferably Excel
May require knowledge of geography and diverse international cultures
Pay Range: $16.00 to $18.25/hr
