The Multiliteracy Center Senior Consultant works with the Senior Director of the Multiliteracy Center to provide exceptional peer tutoring to all UCCS students. This position is also responsible for assisting with the supervision of consultants to ensure their professional conduct. This position also serves as a mentor for staff and students of all levels, and participates in other academic support activities as directed, including helping coordinate programs, activities, and outreach initiatives.

Job Duties:

  • The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work both in person and online to provide tutoring support to UCCS students.

  • Assist in the evaluation of current staff.

  • Train, supervise, and mentor Multiliteracy Center consultants.

  • Represent the center at student success events such as orientation and resource fairs.

  • Provide support to Senior Director as needed.

  • Experience working with high-need students in a tutoring, mentoring, or advising capacity.

  • Experience working with diverse populations in a multi-cultural environment that is committed to diversity and equality in education.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Hourly Pay Range: Generally starting at $20.00 - $25.00 an hour.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications

Please note that while the position details both required qualifications as well as preferred qualifications below, we want applicants to be aware that they do not need to have all of the preferred qualifications to be considered for this position. Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree.

  • Experience working as a peer tutor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in English, Communication, or in the Humanities with extensive writing requirements also considered.

  • Experience and expertise tutoring lower-level English and Communication courses.

  • Knowledge of tutoring pedagogy sufficient to run workshops and assist in the training of staff.

  • Experience working with freshmen and transfer students in a higher education environment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, talking within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
