Summary Description: The Assistant Director will oversee, monitor, and support teachers to refine their instructional techniques, ensuring alignment with Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines, and fostering continuous improvement, confidence, and growth mindset. This position reports directly to the Director and involves regular interaction with faculty, staff, and parents. Under minimal supervision, they will establish and maintain a safe, healthy environment, provide nurturing care and experiences to benefit the children and families of the campus community. The Assistant Director oversees center operations in the Director's absence, also serving and providing support in various roles in the center as needed.

Anticipated Salary Range: $24.53 to $29.42 per hour

Responsibilities:

Elevates teaching practices and strategies, ensuring every student achieves their highest potential while creating an environment of trust, rapport, and inclusivity. Ensure teachers have the necessary resources to meet student needs, managing materials and fiscal responsibilities. Assists the Director in hiring, onboarding, training, and conducting performance reviews for staff and Student Education Assistants. Responsible for food handling and service to meet USDA and sanitation regulations as required by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the concepts, theories, and principles of early childhood best practices and child development and be able to apply to all situations. Must maintain professional development hours and certifications. Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Additional Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

Must hold current director certification for a large childcare center. A minimum of 5 years' experience as a lead teacher with an Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 of level 4 or higher. At least 1 year of experience in a coaching or curriculum development role. State approved Adult and Child CPR, First Aid and Medical administration training including Standard Precaution Procedures. Must have current pre-employment physical examination, proof of current vaccinations, knowledge of infectious diseases and preventative measures to reduce the spread of disease, and a working knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices with young children. Strong background working with diverse learning and social-emotional needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of child development and a variety of early childhood pedagogies. A deep understanding of developmental milestones, including language, motor, cognitive and social-emotional/adaptive skills Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based programs and developmentally appropriate practices for early childhood. S rong decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail Strong collaborative skills Creativity and flexibility with daily schedules and plans Frequent bending, standing, crawling, stooping, reaching, carrying, and pushing; moderate physical effort (lifting to 50 lbs.)
