Summary Description: The Assistant Director of College Events is responsible for managing, executing, and providing strategic guidance for all community events hosted at Colorado College and internal events at the Fine Arts Center. Generates contracts and collaborates with departments across campus to develop events that support the college's goals and priorities, fostering key connections with Colorado Springs community, students, alumni, donors, faculty, staff and trustees. Assists with all college events as needed.

Anticipated Salary Range: $55,000 to $61,217 per year

Responsibilities:

Manage and develop of college's policies concerning community events, remaining consistent across campus and at the Fine Arts Center. Manage the development and execution with key partners on campus and at the Fine Arts Center to ensure smooth adoption of event standards in accordance with college standards and policies. Collaborate with entities on and off campus to deepen, expand and institutionalize co-curricular community-based learning opportunities; this includes but is not limited to supporting the efforts of Colorado College and The FAC. Develop and implement a process that streamlines event planning and management and serve as a liaison to the Director of Events on community events and internal events at the Fine Arts Center. Cultivate community relationships, including participation in monthly meetings of the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Center, as time permit Assist the Assistant Vice President for Events and Director in the planning and execution of large-scale events such as Fall Conference, Opening Convocation, Honors Convocation, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. Manage and supervise on-call staff and student interns.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience plus a minimum of five years related experience in event planning and program logistics; ability to provide vision and guidance to clients (faculty, staff, and external groups); extensive skill in detailed planning and implementation of successful events; ability to think critically and solve problems; proficient with computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite; experience with budget analysis; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; demonstrated creativity, integrity, dependability, sound judgment, resourcefulness, and ability to diffuse difficult situations and respond appropriately to emergency situations. Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree or Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) designation; supervisory experience.
