What we want

The Registered Nurse/Program Manager plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of various programs.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Other: This position may require up to 5% or more travel and may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends. This position may allow an alternate work location per TAMU guidelines and with appropriate approvals.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other health-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Five years of experience in nursing, including experience in quality/safety initiatives and program management

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Texas in good standing Licensure must be maintained for continuing employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in applicable field from an accredited college or university

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Background or clinical experience in applying national patient safety and quality standards

  • Understanding of Texas Board of Nursing regulatory requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Improvement concepts, methodologies, and tools

  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work cooperatively with others

  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines

  • Provide a safe environment that fosters respect and equality of all faculty, staff, students, and visitors

  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Responsibilities

    Manages the Knowledge, Skills, Teaching, Assessment, and Research (KSTAR) program

  • Collaborates with the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) Executive staff, TAMU College of Nursing, and TAMU CLRC Sim Center in remediating nurses that have received a disciplinary sanction on their nursing license

  • Organizes and administers virtual and in-person assessments

  • Coordinates and executes initial assessments, return assessments, individualized education plans, computerized testing, and JP&E training to all nurse participants

  • Collaborates with the CON faculty in the development of focused remediation classes and case scenarios in conjunction with evidence-based practice

  • Develops and implements internal procedures for the administration of the program

  • Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes

  • Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program

    Manages the Nursing Quality and Safety Collaborative (NQSC) Program

  • Facilitates “virtual” nursing peer review services for rural and community hospitals across the state of Texas

  • Collaborates with hospital CEOs, CNOs, Risk Management and HR in ensuring due process and timelines are met per the TBON for incident base, safe harbor, and external factors nursing peer reviews

  • Develops and implements internal procedures for the administration of the program

  • Organizes, presents, and promotes Continuing Nursing Education webinars to NQSC program participants on current nursing trends and needs

  • Assists with yearly budgetary and contract processes

  • Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program

  • Coordinates program activities with other support staff

    Acts as the Accredited Program Planner Director (APPD)/Nurse Planner for the RCHI Approved Provider Unit (APU)

  • Ensures all activities meet the Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education and ANCC accreditation and Texas Board of Nursing CNE criteria

  • Validates all activities have been properly entered in the Nursing Activity Reporting System

  • Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program

  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of departmental goals and objectives
