B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
Good interpersonal skills, professionalism and competency. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
75%: Design, perform and analyze experiments to study the activity of small drug-like molecules on pathogens, like malaria and TB; as well as cancer cells.
Perform pharmacology and toxicity studies with small drug-like molecules
Analyze, interpret and present results
Cloning and expression of proteins of interest. Purification of proteins in sufficient quantity to obtain crystals.
Crystallization of proteins.
20%: Assist with laboratory management of stocks, supplies and equipment.
5%: Other duties as necessary.
