Community Outreach Coordinator in Brevard County

The 24-7 Consulting Community Outreach Coordinator fosters positive relationships between FDOT, City and County Governments, and the community. The Community Outreach Coordinator supports the Community Outreach Director with public events and engagements, including Public Information Open Houses, milestone commemorations, construction meetings, and signature events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field desired
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Digital literacy

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Time-management and multitasking skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organizationalandproblem-solving skills
  • Develop, maintain professional relationships with internal staff, vendors, contractors, media, and the public to achieve departmental and organizational goals
  • Establish working relationships with constituents, appointed and elected officials, and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of current trends in communication, public relations, marketing, social media platforms, and public engagement
  • Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Teams and ZOOM
  • Knowledge of graphic design and the ability to incorporate them.
  • Transportation and Construction background a plus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

  • Conduct outreach to the public to promote sustainable transportation options in Brevard County.
  • Plan and implement campaigns encouraging increased biking, walking, and public transportation use.
  • Keep a suite of social media channels regularly updated with engaging content that promotes FDOT's transportation work.
  • Attend in-person events as needed.
  • Draft and carry out email campaigns and any other relevant outreach strategies required to advance the FDOT's transportation work.
  • Design materials, websites, and fact sheets as needed.
  • Collaborates with the Community Outreach Director to plan, organize, and execute community events, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary contact and address inquiries, offering support and guidance through various communication channels.
  • Coordinates, plans, organizes and directs all milestone commemorations for FDOT.
