HOME RUN ALARM COMPANY Fire Alarm Specialty Technician Apprentice in Clinton Township, Michigan

The "Fire Alarm Specialty Technician Apprentice" (FAST Apprentice) is a state-licensed position with a Fire & Security-Alarm Contractor, designed to lead to official FAST Licensing. Apprentices start earning and learning immediately under the guidance of Owner Greg Dilone, with over 25 years of experience. The program lasts up to four years, culminating in a graduation diploma from the U.S. Department of Labor as a Protective-Signal Installer. Apprentices then prepare for NICET certification and the State FAST exam. Essential Functions:

  • Install, maintain, and repair security systems, alarms, and related equipment by following electrical blueprints and building plans
  • Secure and mount control panels, sensors, cameras, and other components while connecting electrical and telephone wiring
  • Demonstrate system operations to customers and clarify details, including the causes and effects of false alarms.
  • Test and repair circuits and sensors according to wiring and system guidelines
  • Route cables through access points, roof spaces, or walls to reach outlets; position and connect cables, wires, or strapping.
  • Inspect systems to identify issues such as loose connections or damaged insulation
  • Drill wiring holes in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors
  • Evaluate installation sites and review work orders, building plans, and manuals to determine materials and installation procedures
  • Collaborate with clients to assess risks and define security requirements

Additional Requirements

Willing to travel occasionally /2-3 nights stay to Southwest Michigan
