Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Summary:

To provide clinical support for medical practitioners, assist practitioner in the performance of Medical Procedures, conduct follow up with the patient's concerning lab and other tests results, triage patient calls as needed. Performs phlebotomy work and injections, manage patient records, act as a liaison between patient, hospital, other providers and the practitioners.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares patients to be seen by provider. • Assists provider with minor surgical procedures. • Performs in office testing and treatment. • Triage patient calls as needed. • Remind patient of appointment as necessary. • Collect necessary reports/information prior to patients’ appointments. • Execute standing orders, routine preventative services and/or prescription refills as authorized by provider. • Notify patient of applicable results, communicating recommendations of diagnostic studies, as instructed by provider. • Provide educational information to patients as required. • Answer questions from patient/patient family or supply a resource that will have the answer. • Understands and properly utilizes EMR. • Documents all required information appropriately in patient charts/EMR. • Performs job utilizing all resources with minimal waste of supplies, materials, and time. • Performs job within allotted time frame. • Demonstrates safe behavior in all aspects of job. • Utilizes higher education, seminars, professional publications, and hospital in services to remain current in profession. • Supports and contributes to practice administration. • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. • Orders or notifies proper staff of need for clinical supplies/stocks supplies. • Properly utilizes and maintains all equipment for job. • Schedules/Reschedules patients as necessary. • Maintain a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures. • Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate. • Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.

Other Information:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent, or a minimum of 2 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant, with expectation of becoming certified or registered within 90 days of hire date in order to continue employment. Experience: Experience working in a medical office preferred. Computer literacy Training: Successful completion of a course of study recognized by the State of Maine as an MA or Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure: Certified Nursing Assistant As determined by the State of Maine JOB COMPETENCIES (Include Age Specific requirements for clinical workers): Customer/Service oriented Excellent communication skills. Ability to prioritize. Ability to work independently. Willingness to learn. The employee is required to know and to follow procedures designed to minimize exposure detailed on OSHA manual. Physical Demands: Standing, lifting, reaching, walking, bending.
