Senior Roof Consultant
Intertek is searching for a Senior Roof Consultant to join our Building & Construction team in our Cleveland, Ohio office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the Building Enclosure and Roof Consulting and Testing Group.
What you’ll do:
Conduct visual roof surveys, roof moisture surveys, roof drainage analysis, manufacturer's warranty audits, pre-design surveys and prepare reports
Provide replacement design of roof systems (prelim, due diligence, design analysis (drainage, wind uplift, materials selection, and development of plans and specifications), construction details and bidding documents
Perform wind-uplift testing and other in-situ testing such as performing field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems.
Provide design consulting and peer review services for plans and specifications for new and existing roof system installations
Perform review of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals pertaining to the building enclosure
Provide construction administration services, including pre-con and kickoff meetings, progress meetings, shop drawing reviews, RFI reviews, and field observation quality assurance site visits.
Perform diagnostic leak investigations of roof systems and peripheral construction including, adjacent walls, windows, roofs, plaza waterproofing and below grade elements.
Assist and perform other building exterior installations inspections as required.
Prepare written reports for inspection and testing work
Work with Project Managers on inspection, testing and/or investigative projects, as needed
And other tasks as required.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
Bachelor's Degree plus 10 - 15 years of roofing industry experience
Thorough technical knowledge and expertise in roofing trade practices and principles, required
Proficient and experienced in roof surveys, roof design and testing
Working knowledge of roof industry relevant code, design guidelines including, but not limited to Factory Mutual, NRCA, IIBEC (formerly, RCI) and SDI.
Clean driving record is a requirement
Must be neat in appearance and punctual
Must be flexible and willing to work
Experience in managing a range of small to large projects
Management Experience
Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications
Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks
Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, roofs, etc.
Ability to efficiently work on projects independently and in a team environment
Excellent organizational, communication and roof consulting skills
Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Ability to nurture client relationships
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening
Participation/leadership in national associations is a plus
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, architecture or architectural engineering, a plus.
PE, Architect, Registered Roof Observer (RRO), or Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), preferred.
Safety Training for Aerial Man Lift
Computer modeling (e.g. AutoCAD)
Roof system testing knowledge
AutoCAD/Sketch-up proficiency
Interest in taking a leadership role within the organization
Interest/strength in business development
