Posted March 12, 2024 Title: Research Associate: EBP Resource Development Specialist, Substance Use Disorder Center of Excellence Department: Center on Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) School: Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS) Location: MSASS Supervisor Name and Title: Ric Kruszynski, Director OVERVIEW The CEBP is a technical assistance center with a mission to promote recovery among people with mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders through the implementation of evidence-based practices (EBPs) and emerging best practices in behavioral healthcare. The CEBP promotes knowledge development and implementation of EBPs through programmatic and clinical consultation, training, and evaluation services, and quality improvement consultation to organizations interested in implementing EBPs. These practice models include a range of practices associated with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) treatment as well as Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), Supported Employment/Individual Placement and Support (SE/IPS), Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT), Dual Disorder Capability (DDC). The Center has been awarded a grant from SAMSHA/OhioMHAS for a Substance Use Disorder Center of Excellence (SUD COE) which is tasked with providing training, resources and technical assistance to providers throughout Ohio. POSITION OBJECTIVE This position functions under the direction of the CEBP leadership team with respect to needs, priorities, and role assignments as determined by current contractual obligations. Working under general supervision, the SUD COE EBP Resource Development Specialist will be primarily responsible for providing training resource development and written EBP in-depth literature reviews and research briefs re: associated clinical guidance with SUD treatment models as requested by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS). As part of the CEBPs goal of developing a repository of SUD EBP resource content to be hosted on a state-sponsored website, this position will be primarily responsible for the writing of research summaries and implementation guidance documents that support implementation. This position may also offer QI guidance for evaluation of EBPs utilizing standardized fidelity tools for programs and systems that receive services from the CEBP. Evaluation efforts may include consultation with programs and systems regarding implementation of EBPs. This position will assist with reports to OhioMHAS. EBP consultation and training occurs as determined by the needs of the CEBP. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conduct extensive literature reviews on evidence-informed treatment models and their applicability to high morbidity/high mortality substances in consultation with team (60%) Write summary reports of the EBP literature, as well as briefs and infographics stemming from the literature review (25%) Provide training at community behavioral health treatment organizations in conjunction with local and State health authorities. (5%) Participate in formal quality improvement activity with programs seeking to add EBP fidelity and adherence measures into their organizational QI processes. (5%) NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Participate in supervision as needed and weekly team meetings. (4%) Update daily calendar as changes occur. Enter all reportable activities in database weekly. Follow policies of Case Western Reserve University and the CEBP in regard to reporting employee expenses, and activity for grant reporting. (1%) Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
