University Hospitals Health System Patient Concierge in Cleveland, Ohio

Description Position Summary This position is responsible for coordinating and managing embassy sponsored, physician and self-referred international patients receiving medical treatment at University Hospitals. These services include: coordinating appointments with an appropriate physician specialist and diagnostic department, securing physician approval for treatment, receiving embassy authorization, and in person interpretation services during scheduled, emergency and in-patient visits. Support patients and their escorts by arranging flights, transportation to and from airport and medical appointments, securing housing, establishing bank accounts, securing and renewing visas and assisting with funeral services. Establishes relationships with clinical staff to ensure that medical, cultural and religious needs are coordinated for each patient. Provides written interpretation reports to embassy with summary of patient treatment plans, medical records and discharge information. Coordinates discharge needs including; pharmacy, durable medical equipment, continued physician services and return to home country. Rotates on call duties during non-business hours and weekends to provide interpretation for patients as required.The position assists with department duties including; triaging calls for referral services, answering requests about UH services, exceeding patient satisfaction standards and maintaining strong business relationships with UH physicians, staff and support departments. Maintains department database, plans, organizes, prioritizes and maintains workflow in conjunction with physicians, clinical objectives, international patient cultural and religious requirements and UH organizational objectives. Serves as a department liaison to increase referral sources and patient recruitment. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of computer systems and department policies/procedures This role encounters Protected Health Information (PHI) as part of regular responsibilities. UH employees must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain PHI for our patients.
