VIP RIDES LLC Part Time Bus Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisor in Cleveland, Ohio

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Bus Fleet Mechanic to join our team and ensure the efficient operation of our fleet of buses. This position is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of mechanical and electrical systems in buses, ensuring they are in optimal working condition for safe and reliable service. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, particularly buses, and a passion for ensuring that vehicles are well-maintained and safe for public transportation.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspection & Diagnostics: Conduct regular inspections of buses, including mechanical, electrical, and safety systems, to identify any issues or necessary repairs.

  • Repairs & Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and other preventive tasks. Repair and replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, exhaust systems, air conditioning, electrical wiring, and other systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical or electrical issues and provide timely and effective solutions.

  • System Testing: Test repaired or serviced buses to ensure they meet safety and operational standards. Ensure proper functioning of safety equipment, including lights, emergency exits, and braking systems.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of all work completed on each bus, including parts used, labor hours, and any necessary follow-up actions.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all buses comply with local and federal safety regulations, including the maintenance of proper documentation for inspections, repairs, and certifications. Adhere to company policies and safety standards to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.

  • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with other mechanics, supervisors, and fleet management teams to ensure efficient operation and to address any urgent maintenance needs. Provide support for special projects, as needed.

  • Emergency Repairs: Respond to bus breakdowns or emergency situations promptly, providing on-site repairs when necessary.


Qualifications & Skills:

Experience: Minimum [X] years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle repair and maintenance, with a strong preference for experience working on buses or commercial vehicles.

Technical Skills: Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems in buses. Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and fix issues. Familiarity with industry-standard repair techniques, including knowledge of brakes, engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and suspension systems.

Certifications: Valid mechanic certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or equivalent preferred. CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with a bus endorsement is a plus.

Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to think critically and solve problems under pressure.

Physical Stamina & Strength: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy parts and tools. Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and in tight spaces.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to document repairs and communicate effectively with colleagues and management.
