People Consulting (PC) – HR Actuarial Services – Services Manager

The opportunity

As a member of our People Consulting (PC) retirement actuarial team, you'll be part of a dedicated group of professionals serving a diverse range of US and global clients. Our team is known for its technical acumen and deep service delivery experience, which sets EY apart in the industry. Your key responsibilities

  • Review of pension valuations, vendor assessments, benefits design/cost studies, transaction due diligence and/or various government reports for a variety of clients

  • Review work of junior staff and sign memorandums as a specialist in required annual audits

  • Participate in advisory client meetings and work within a team environment with company valuations and post-merger integration services to deliver fully integrated benefits services to clients

  • Contribute to business development and client pursuit activities by preparing proposals and delivering presentations for potential and existing clients

  • Review non-discrimination testing requirements of the IRS for retirement plans

  • Contribute to client satisfaction by providing timely and effective responses to client needs and concerns

  • Encourage and facilitate collaboration amongst team members, and promote an inclusive working environment

  • Proficient in planning and execution across multiple high-priority projects

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, research and communication skills

  • Coordinates client relationship strategies and guides the team in understanding and managing client expectations

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor's degree with a concentration in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics

  • Five to ten years of work experience

  • An actuarial certification (Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) or Enrolled Actuary (EA))

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel as well as work in excess of standard hours when necessary

  • Proficiency with more advanced features in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Experience in reviewing and thorough knowledge of pension funding calculations and financial statement disclosures, including accounting for significant events under US GAAP or:

  • experience with cost analysis for health and welfare plans

  • experience with benefits vendor management

  • experience with HR aspects of financial Due Diligence thorough the full life cycle of an acquisition

  • experience with international benefits plan management and design

  • experience with retirement plan financial management/derisking

We are looking for a retirement actuary driven by the prospect of diverse and impactful work. This role is unique due to the wide range of opportunities it presents. You'll contribute to review of financial statement disclosures while working with members of our Assurance practice, engage in a variety of projects to help companies with valuations and post-merger integrations with members of our Strategy and Transactions practice, handle complex pension valuations, and assess retirement and benefit plan risks and develop solutions for our clients. What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $105,700 to $241,200. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $126,900 to $274,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
