Case Western Reserve University Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Medical Sociology - Department of Sociolog in Cleveland, Ohio

Posted August 14, 2023 The Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin July 1, 2024. We seek candidates with a specialization in medical sociology. We are particularly interested in candidates who focus on one or more historically marginalized populations, including but not limited to race/ethnicity, immigration, disability, gender/sexualities. The candidate will contribute undergraduate and graduate courses in our concentration areas of Medical Sociology and Social Inequality. Methodological specialization is open. Candidates who can contribute to our theory or methods curriculum are especially encouraged to apply. Responsibilities of the position include the following: teach two courses per semester; conduct general and major undergraduate advising; contribute to the doctoral program by teaching substantive seminars; provide mentorship and research supervision for doctoral students. Case Western Reserve University offers students the quality and class size of a strong liberal arts college within one of the nation's major research universities. Applicants must have a PhD in Sociology, Demography, or a related field at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with: (1) scholarly promise in a clearly articulated program of research; (2) evidence of effective teaching experience and clear pedagogy; (3) demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
