Assistant Nurse Manager - Progressive Pulmonary Care Unit

Cleveland Clinic's G91 Progressive Pulmonary Care Unit is a 32-bed unit that provides care for acute pulmonary patients (pulmonary embolism, trachs and vents). With a mix of new and seasoned caregivers, caregivers say that this unit is great to learn skills that easily translate to the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) or other Intensive Care Units.

A caregiver in this position works the night shift from 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. or 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide clinical supervision and coordinate unit clinical operations under the direction of the Nurse Manager.

  • Supervise and participate in delivering patient care, ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts, and coordinate patient admitting, discharges and transfers.

  • Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions, monitor attendance issues and review major operational patient care issues with the Nurse Manager.

  • Interview, select and orient new caregivers.

  • Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.

  • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.

  • Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires extensive sitting and dexterity to perform work on a PC.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
