An opportunity is anticipated for a self-motivated, detail oriented & hard-working individual, to fill a cabin custodian (housekeeping) position at Lake Louisa State Park located in Clermont, Florida. This Park offers hiking, picnicking, a swimming area, playground, cabins and campsite rentals plus paddle craft rentals and horseback tours via the park’s concessionaire. Incumbent would be responsible for cleaning cabins after guests leave.

The natural theme park of Lake Louisa State Park showcases a diversity of wildlife, including deer, bobcat, gopher tortoises, fox squirrel and flighted creatures like bald eagles and osprey.

The park is home to 11 distinct natural plant communities and lies within the eastern boundary of the Green Swamp Area of Critical State Concern and the northern boundary of the Lake Wales Ridge.

The park’s three major lakes, Louisa, Hammond and Dixie, transform idle observers into active participants with opportunities for canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding. Bicycling is popular on the park’s seven miles of paved roads over rolling hills and on the 20 miles of unpaved multi-use trails.

    Pay :

    $15.00 per hour-paid bi-weekly

    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    VISITOR SERVICES – Cleans and sanitizes cabins after visitor use. Washes, folds and prepares laundry. Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.

    MAINTENANCE – Occasional repair of screens, replacement of lightbulbs, and basic household maintenance. Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities associated with cabins.

    ADMINISTRATION - Operates radio equipment, personal computers and maintains written logs.

    PROTECTION - Ensures Park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor.

    Performs related work as required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge: Knowledge of cleaning and sanitizing techniques; Knowledge of Florida Park Service.

    Skill: Skill in operating trucks and golf carts. Skill in cleaning techniques.

Abilityto work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends; Communicate verbally and in writing; Perform physical labor including carrying bins weighing up to 40 pounds up 2 flights of stairs. Utilizing power/electrical/gas tools and equipment; Ability to perform routine inspections; Identify and investigate problems and maintain facilities, restrooms, grounds, and equipment; Deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner; Ability to work outdoors with exposure to elements and wildlife; Ability to work a rotating schedule, Ability to work well with others; Deal with people and maintain good public relations; Enforce rules and regulations; Prepare and keep accurate reports; Follow verbal and written instructions; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations; Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Successful completion of background/fingerprint check
