Reference #: 2654718 Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for various accounting functions within the Finance Department including, but not limited to, financial reporting, month-end closing, preparation and posting of journal entries and account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant will maintain all relevant documentation for SOX 404 compliance and assist auditors with information requests. They will also assist the Director of Accounting Operations on special projects, as needed.

FOCUS ON ACCURACY AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL Maintain a strong focus on the completeness and accuracy of all work performed. Understand basic accounting concepts in order to accurately make decisions within the general ledger, as well as management reports. Adhere to standard accounting policies and procedures while performing job functions. PROMOTES POSITIVE ATTITUDES AND COLLABORATION Display a positive attitude in managing change while working under tight deadlines. Ability to work independently and communicate with questions when necessary. Work collaboratively with members of the Finance department toward common goals and objectives. PROVIDE EXCEPTIONAL TEAM SUPPORT Willingness to assist other areas of the Finance Department, specifically during the quarter-end reporting process. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with SEC reporting. EMBRACE TECHNOLOGY Continually evaluate processes and procedures to effectively use technology for efficiencies. Work with Director of Accounting Operations to continually evaluate the need for process improvements. SEEK PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES Take advantage of training opportunities to advance knowledge of new accounting standards. Complete required online banking classes as assigned.

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job requirement satisfactorily and a skills inventory is listed below. A Bachelor's (BA) or equivalent four-year college degree with a major in Finance or Accounting is required. In addition, one year of related experience, preferably in a financial institution or public accounting environment, is preferred. A criminal background check will be conducted. The position requires the incumbent to work some weekends and restrict vacation during peak periods. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents. Possesses professional communication and interpersonal skills to write and speak effectively both one-on-one and before groups of clients or employees of the organization. Ability to communicate to clients directly and effectively. TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Ability to use telephone systems and possess good computer skills including email, internet and intranet use. Prior experience or the ability to learn core transaction system, debit card system, general ledger software and any other computer programs pertinent to performing job duties. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve challenging problems involving several variables in a standardized situation.
