Mountain Lakes Medical Center Occupational Therapist in Clayton, Georgia

*Occupational Therapist *

Job Type: Part-time, Contract;

Pay: $38.00 - $46.00 per hour

Lead the process in development, implementation, and coordination of the occupational therapy program. Screening, evaluation, educational program and transition planning, therapeutic intervention, and exit planning is provided for patients identified with or suspected of having disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life activities or participate in necessary or desired occupations. Professional judgment and clinical knowledge are used to develop individualized programming based on occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, family role, interaction skills, community integration/work, and communication. Occupational therapist regularly collaborates with other disciplines and services at departmental and system levels. The occupational therapist is expected to independently review outcomes and modify intervention programs. Direct and indirect supervision may be exercised over support personnel, such as Occupational Therapy Assistants and Patient Care Techs.

SUMMARY OF SERVICE DELIVERY EXPECTATIONS:

  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate patient reintegration into the home and community.

``` - Educates patient and family to facilitate skills in areas of occupation as well as health maintenance and safety.

``` - Monitors and reassess the effects of occupational therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.

``` - Documents occupational therapy services in a timely manner to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate.

``` - Test and evaluate patients' physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.

Select activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental and physical capabilities.

Recommend changes in patients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities

Design and create, or requisition, special supplies and equipment, such as splints, braces and computer-aided adaptive equipment.

  • Prioritizes and schedules work tasks independently.

``` - Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines, and school system policy.

``` - Provides legal and ethical supervision of occupational therapy assistant assuming responsibility for the patients served by assistant.

``` - Adheres to federal and state legislation, regulation, and policies that affect occupational therapy practice.

``` - Reviews occupational therapy services for quality improvement and makes changes as needed to ensure quality of services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Have successfully completed and graduated from an accredited occupational therapy profession l program recognized by NBCOT and have completed all fieldwork requirements.

``` - Masters degree is the minimum entry level requirement into any of the Rehabilitation Therapy professions.

``` - Licensure is required to practice, and must be compliant with the states requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification by National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy.

``` - Current license by the Georgia Board of Occupational Therapy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to walk or stand for long periods.

Ability to move heavy patients and equipment.

Repeated bending, squatting, and stooping.

Normal or corrected vision and hearing.

Reaching and bending, including reaching above shoulder height.

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull a minimum of 50 pounds.

Ability to perform shift work including working extended shifts
