Join our team in Clay, NY as a Senior Construction Procurement Category Supplier Manager. Lead contract strategy development, evaluate our construction supply base, and negotiate multi-million-dollar contracts for Semiconductor Fabrication facility projects. Could this be you?

This position requires cultivating the global, regional and local supply base to drive project execution, managing supplier performance, analyzing complex bid responses against benchmark data and aligning with multiple internal and external entities for success.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience managing extremely large capital projects, delivering best value contracting solutions, and innovative problem-solving capabilities. The ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and effectively present ideas to leaders is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Supplier Relationship Globally

  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned construction projects

  • Perform commercial supplier qualification activities to ensure the commercial development of strategic suppliers

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with suppliers while effectively resolving performance/capability issues to ensure alignment with Micron’s strategic direction

  • Ensure suppliers align with Micron's business ethics, code-of-conduct programs, and corporate safety policies and social responsibility initiatives.

  • Communicate key supplier management updates and decisions to multiple levels in the organization, including Executive Leadership

  • Provide the voice of the supply base to Micron and vice versa

Drive Best Value Pricing Solutions with Suppliers

  • Lead or participate in large negotiations for construction contracts

  • Ensure and maintain a competitive bid environment

  • Lead sourcing events/RFQ processes

  • Develop a contract strategy for each project, including crafting, negotiating, monitoring, and enforcing contracted terms and conditions.

  • Lead bid analysis and best value pricing strategy recommendations

  • Drive direct, indirect, and cost avoidance saving opportunities

Manage Supplier Performance

  • Collaborate with collaborators from Global Facilities and site teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of supplier performance.

  • Ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled by both Owner and Contractor

  • Lead the Change Management process

  • Collect and relay site-specific priorities to suppliers

  • Collaborate internally to develop key performance measures/metrics for strategic suppliers and monitor their performance to ensure continuous improvement

  • Coordinate and deliver strategic supplier events, such as Quarterly Business Reviews, Annual Supplier Evaluations, and Executive Review Meetings.

Create and Implement Construction Category Strategy

  • Participate in supplier segmentation and strategic goal setting

  • Share market intelligence and price trends with our collaborators, customers, partners, and team members on a consistent schedule.

  • Apply should-cost models for assigned categories that are benchmarked and relevant to the global marketplace.

  • Be the go-to expert for construction procurement and share knowledge with collaborators to improve planning and execution.

Supervisory Support

  • Support procurement leadership by supervising project sourcing team members

  • Develop project-level staffing support plans

  • Document project-level procurement strategies and timelines

  • Maintain key project-level priorities and monitor progress to plan

  • Act as the initial point of escalation for project-level sourcing team members

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Major Engineering Fields, or Supply Chain Management; a Master’s degree or MBA is a plus!

Experience

  • Able to lead multiple large-scale projects concurrently with minimal supervision and strong project management skills

  • 10+ years of experience in construction , construction management, and/or construction procurement or contracting

  • Experience in construction contract negotiations and administration

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Comfortable around Senior Leaders and Executives, with the ability to build and deliver executive-level presentations

  • Supervisory experience leading sourcing teams

  • Fab construction experience is a plus

Preferred

  • Experience with industry-standard contracts (FIDIC) and/or Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contracting

  • Knowledge of CSA and MEP systems, generally accepted standards of workmanship in construction and infrastructure systems

  • Knowledge of innovative construction practices, including BIM technology, pre-fabrication, etc.

  • Knowledge of project controls and standard project reporting

Travel

  • Occasional travel <25%

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$114,500.00 - $195,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additional compensation may include benefits, discretionary bonuses and equity.
