Prepares entrees, vegetables, starches, soups and some sandwiches for United Summit Center patients and/or service cafeteria in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High School graduate or equivalent required. 2. Must have a current Food Handlers card. 3. West Virginia state and Federal criminal background check required for DHHR WV CARES regulated area EXPERIENCE: 1. One Year commercial cooking preferred.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.   1. Provides sanitary conditions as outlined in the department Infection Control Policy.
  2. Fulfills daily/weekly cleaning duties as defined in daily job descriptions and weekly cleaning schedules.
  3. Demonstrates proper handling and operation of equipment including blast chillers, convection ovens, mixers, deep fat fryers, etc.
  4. Adheres to Food Service Policy on handling potentially hazardous food.
  5. Communicates with coworkers and supervisors in a professional manner.
  6. Uses and handles chemicals according to present vendor guidelines. Never mixes chemicals. Labels spray bottles with proper label.
  7. Regulates speed of work within realm of safety to get the work done on time.
  8. Uses proper lifting techniques as described in Net Learning module.
  9. Completes paper work as required for the job.
  10. Organizes the work by the time items need to be completed.
  11. Cooks food to appropriate temperature to assure proper doneness.
  12. Applies professional judgment within realm of job as defined by the appropriateness of action taken to situation presented.
  13. Assists in orienting new Associates utilizing training manuals and job descriptions.
  14. Follows standardized recipes to assure consistency of product.
  15. Provides customer service that promotes USC and the Food Service Department.
  16. Follows proper food storage policies.
  17. Performs duties accurately and consistently according to job description.
  18. Works with co-workers in a quiet, productive, always helpful manner to assure the best possible service.
  19. Substitutes appropriately for food items not available but on the menu.
  20. Serves food according to established portions.
