Prysmian Group MRO Buyer in Claremont, North Carolina

Summary: Compiles information and records to prepare purchase orders for procurement of material by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees maintenance department MRO ordering and inventory management; enters or tracks usage and requirement data through spreadsheet, SAP, or database; reviews stock levels and changes in usage of stocked products.

  • Inputs requirements to SAP system to generate orders; ensures all requirements to suppliers are documented and communicated by fax, e-mail, or other means. Reviews accuracy of data entry inputs to SAP and Web based order systems, and remedies any discrepancies found prior to order submission or processing.

  • Interfaces with suppliers to confirm competitive, accurate pricing and correct invoicing; ensures clear communication of specifications, requirements, and delivery expectations via purchase orders and/or blanket releases; ensures acceptance of order by suppliers or seeks to resolve discrepancies; negotiates pricing where feasible.

  • Confirms or works with Receiving to confirm receipt and/or inventory of maintenance related materials daily.

  • Works to develop appropriate levels of stock at point-of-use, storage indication and usage; follows up on abnormal usage and/or loss concerns.

  • Establishes reorder systems, visual controls and maintains JIT goals using MRP, Kanban, or other systems.

  • Manages activities related to supply cage including inventory counting (weekly, monthly and yearly), restocking delivered product and rotating stock on shelves to ensure FIFO.

  • Oversees activity relating to non-inventory and/or MRO items--including ordering, negotiating, and sourcing.

  • Create new part numbers in SAP.

  • Maintain exceptional 6S in Maintenance support areas.

  • Work with others to provide kits and maintenance plans for planned and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.

  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks as necessary.

  • Perform audits of Maintenance activities.

  • Train and/or provide training as needed.

  • Take part in training, wherever appropriate, to understand new procedures and technologies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

2-4 years of purchasing and supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supplier representatives, and employees at all levels of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to compare requisition and purchase order documents against web order entry screens to confirm data entry, price, quantity, and total accuracy.

Social Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to conduct themselves in a professional, courteous manner with suppliers and potential clients.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and experience with SAP Inventory and Manufacturing software; MS Office software, including Excel and Word. Must be able to navigate / use supplier websites.
