Job Overview: Under the direction of the department manager/director, this position has responsibility to supervise daily operations of the department or area. This accountability encompasses: operations or patient care outcomes as applicable, service excellence, human resource issues, fiscal management, quality improvement compliance, and communication. Emphasis should be placed on creating a positive environment that fosters professional growth and retention. Job Requirements: Associate degree in criminal justice Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree. 20 hour OPOTA certification for private security Driver's License Up to 1 year professional experience Job Responsibilities: Provide operational and adminitrative oversight and leadership to a designated team of Protective Services Officers and support Team Members at multiple locations. Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare security protocols, financial and workforce management. Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team with clinical parteners and critical stakeholders to ensure safety for patients, visitors, clinical staff and support Team Members. Provides on-site leadership during calls for service and acts as liasion to management and clinical staff. Performs training of officers including, but not limited to: Use of Force, Self-defense, Firearms, Taser, De-escalation, report writing, response to calls for service. Maintains records of officer training and ensures proficiency in all aspects of job requirements. Develops training and reports for special initiatives, as assigned by management. Reviews time sheets for accuracy and makes proper corrections. Completes evaluations in an accurate and fair manner during observations. Initiates and documents disciplinary action to hospital and department policy and makes Manager aware of same Must demonstrate proficiency in access control systems, microsoft office suite and CCTV systems. Serves as a point of contact for third party vendors for security-related infrastructure repairs and/or upgrades. Provides recommendations to stakeholders for physical security improvements to maximize safety. Demonstrates legal knowledge through his/her actions with an in-depth understanding of Hospital and departmental policies and procedures resulting in positive outcomes in problem situations. Working knowledge of law enforcement and how it applies to private security, as well as the limited authority the law provides security. Knowledge of rules of arrest, search and seizure.
