UC HEALTH LLC Registered Nurse (RN-CN1), PACU, FLEX, ONA in CINCINNATI, Ohio

Registered Nurse (RN), Flex Shift, Post Anesthesia Care Unit Department UC Health is hiring a Full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the PACU department for the 10am-10:30pm flex shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. This 30 bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit specializes in Phase 1 recovery for general anesthesia cases throughout the hospital. As the region's only Level 1 academic trauma center, we specialize in the treatment of complex neuro, ENT and trauma cases. Other surgeries and procedures are diverse and include Cath Lab/EP, IR and ICU level of care patients. Phase 1 recovery focuses on airway maintenance, breathing, hemodynamic stability and pain control. Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associate degree, minimum required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Current OH RN License
  • BLS/ACLS certifications
  • 2 years ICU, PACU or ED experience, required

The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age-specific.

  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.

``` - Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs. - Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. - Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms. - Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit. - Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
