OVERVIEW As a Quality Engineer or Quality Engineer II in Cincinnati, you will be responsible for championing food safety, regulatory and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a high development and high exposure role within the organization, working at one of our five cereal manufacturing plants. You will receive experience and development in HACCP, PCQI, Auditing, Sanitation, Food Defense, Continuous Improvement, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, Project Management, Supplier and Materials Management, FDQ and ODA Requirements, FSSC Guidelines, Managing People, Contractor Management, Product Startups, Sanitary Design, etc. In this role you will have the opportunity to develop strong communication and influence skills, a deep technical expertise of food safety and quality, and you will have an exposure to manufacturing environments both inside and outside of General Mills. You will receive experience and development in HACCP, PCQI, Auditing, Sanitation, Food Defense, Continuous Improvement, Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, Project Management, Supplier and Materials Management, FDQ and ODA Requirements, FSSC Guidelines, Managing People, Contractor Management, Product Startups, Sanitary Design, etc. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide product quality and food safety leadership through management of solid foundational prerequisite programs and HACCP Utilizing ISO 22000 standards (FSSC). Provide functional leadership to support plant and department objectives Drive Continuous Improvement and Hold Order Prevention Initiatives Use quality engineering principles to collect, analyze and interpret in-process and analytical data to make quality evaluations, recommend actions for improvement and assure resolution Provide leadership and technical support for R&D, Cost Savings, reformulations, and new product start-ups Develop action plans with Operations, R&D, Engineering, and Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure product specifications, analytical procedures and sampling programs are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer and customer requirements Provide training in food science, food safety, quality, applied statistics, and quality measurement systems to appropriate personnel. Drive sanitary design improvements for processing and packaging systems. Ensure the facility meets all GMP/regulatory, HACCP, sanitation, and product safety guidelines. Collaborate with product managers to address customer complaints and manage product issues. Lead run to target initiatives on assigned system. Provide technical expertise to drive root cause to problem areas. Provide leadership for sanitation excellence. Possible Sanitation program and team leadership. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS For Quality Engineer- Bachelors Degree in a relevant degree field with 0-1 years of relevant experience For Quality Engineer II - Bachelors Degree in a relevant degree field and 2+ years of relevant quality manufacturing experience Ability to manage projects and set clear expectations. Ability to flex work schedule when required to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation. This includes weekend on-call support and early/late work hours, as needed. Travel PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Plant Quality Technician and/or Quality Engineer, manufacturing, or auditing/consulting experience. Self-starter who can prioritize workload, while meeting commitments. Understanding of product quality, sensory, food safety, and regulatory requirements. Understanding of Zero Loss Culture philosophy and tools. Demonstrated leadership and initiative. Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations.
