Cloud Network Engineer
Sedgwick are hiring a Cloud Network Engineer to join a Global Cloud team covering the day-to-day management of the Network infrastructure environments and delivery of small projects.
Sedgwick hosting strategy is “cloud first” but we still have some on premise infrastructure and networks which will continue to be maintained for the foreseeable future. All new initiatives and projects are deployed to Azure on primarily Microsoft technologies\stack.
This role will be focused on BAU\Operational support across our sites network and infrastructure Globally.
As a Cloud Network Engineer at Sedgwick, the following characteristics and abilities will be required:
Show an awareness and ability to use scripting, automation tools and software that are available and currently in use.
Build, configure, administer, and support network infrastructure technologies and solutions. These technologies and solutions will be networking but may also include computing, storage, physical infrastructure, software, commercial-off-the-shelf software.
Maintain the security, confidentiality and integrity of information systems through compliance with relevant legislation and regulations and company policy and company policy.
Take ownership of problems and proactively resolve technical problems, ensuring that technical solutions continue to meet business requirements. Take full accountability for the actions taken and decisions made.
Understand and identify problems, analyzing and helping to identify the appropriate solution. Classify and prioritize problems, document their causes and implement remediations.
Create the specification and design of networking to meet defined business needs. Work with business and technology stakeholders to translate business problems into technical designs. Visualize the ideal user service and come up with design ideas and possible design approaches. Effectively explore different approaches to solving problems.
Demonstrate knowledge of the specific technologies necessary to fulfil the responsibilities and tasks of the role. Apply the required breadth and depth of technical knowledge. Actively keep informed of industry developments to make cost-effective use of new and emerging tools and technologies.
Support the service delivery function with delivering solutions as per specification and in line with project defined deadlines and costs.
Support infrastructure function by documenting all technical solutions where relevant and necessary.
Understanding and implementation of monitoring, alerting solutions across all infrastructure to ensure adequate proactive and reactive support can be provided.
Be available to support out of hours project activities and on call rotation.
Technical requirements:
Networking
Palo alto Firewalls, Cisco switches, Meraki Switches and Wifi, Barracuda load balancers, Azure networking (LBs, vnets, peering, UDRs, service endpoints etc)
Automation (nice to have)
Azure DevOps configurations and deployments of cloud networking components and devices like PAs and Barracuda LBs
Microsoft (nice to have)
windows servers 2012 – 2019, AD, Azure, Azure monitor
Infrastructure (nice to have)
Nutanix, Nasuni storage, Commvault backup, Logic monitor, Azure monitor
Soft skills
Experience, ability, and willingness to provide training on networking concepts and technologies to team colleagues.
Experience of quickly understanding highly complex network topologies and being to document them.
The role will be 100% remote and the successful candidate will be expected to join a Global on call rotation.
