Performs the procurement of materials, parts, equipment and supplies for the business while negotiating with suppliers for the best cost, quality and timely delivery of products and services. Assist and support other buyers, schedulers, managers, engineers as assigned. Support Operation's Goals and Objectives on quality, improvements, cost reductions, cycle reductions and product delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Primary responsibilities are to:

  • Utilize ERP/MRP system for planning and procurement.

  • Support MRO purchases.

  • Negotiate cost, quantity, and delivery with suppliers to provide the best price/quantity for the company.

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery issues.

  • Establish short and long-term purchase orders (contracts) that provide the company with the best terms and least liabilities for products procured.

  • Manage returned goods to suppliers.

  • Provide cost estimates/quotes from suppliers to assist in the annual standard cost roll process.

  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the department.

  • Interface with inspection, receiving, & shipping personnel to facilitate the expeditious processing of materials that require purchasing department attention.

  • Coordinate first article inspections with suppliers to assist in determining supplier’s ability to meet company’s product quality requirements.

  • Improve business practices to reduce inventory and improve cycle times, lead times, and service levels.

  • Provide feedback/information from suppliers in the non-conforming material process.

  • Be an effective team member on product development projects.

  • Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

  • May contribute input to systems and/or process change.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

•BA/BS Degree or equivalent with 0-2 years’ experience required

•Experience with MRP systems and knowledge of operations/manufacturing flow.

Comprehensive computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

•Detail oriented and very well organized.

•Knowledge of both investment castings and machined parts manufacturing preferred.
