Job Overview The School of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a 9-month faculty position at the rank of assistant professor for fall 2025. The faculty member will contribute to the department's teaching, research, and service missions. About the School of Social Work The School of Social Work offers on campus BSW and MSW degrees, an online BSW degree, and an online master's in Health Administration to more than 700 students. The School of Social Work offers a highly supportive, collegial and friendly academic culture. There are special opportunities for collaborations with highly regarded, local, health and educational entities such as the Cincinnati Public Schools, the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati Veterans Affairs, and UC Health as well as over 200 social service and behavioral health care agencies in the Greater Cincinnati area. The School of Social Work includes a Child Welfare IV-E program, a Pupil License Certification for School Social Work, the James E. Gruber Endowed Fund for Aging Education which supports programming for interprofessional education in gerontological practice, and a robust study abroad program at the BSW and MSW levels. Within the School of Social Work, there are several collaborations with the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, as well as the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy and Medicine. Candidates with an interdisciplinary perspective whose research focuses on health, mental health and substance use disorders are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in candidates dedicated to research, teaching and service who can teach direct practice courses. Essential Functions The primary responsibility is to conduct research, teach (in person and online) in relevant content areas, and provide service to the School of Social Work, College of Allied Health and the University of Cincinnati. Candidates with content and research expertise in substance use, children and youth, and/or health care practice are invited to apply. Research activity includes, but is not limited to, pursuit of funding, student mentorship, and dissemination of research findings. Experience with innovative academic delivery systems, including online instructional technology is necessary. Minimum Requirements Master's in Social Work and PhD in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience online and in person Minimum of two (2) years post MSW practice experience Prior scholarly works published or presented Current knowledge and skill in the use of computer technology and educational learning management systems Strong organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem solving, conflict management, and follow-through Ability to work independently Interest and ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team Ability to assist with tasks assign
